Timber Joinery and Heritage Projects at
Windsor Historical Society

ALLKIND Joinery & Glass Director, Richard Travers, will be appearing as a guest speaker at the Windsor Historical Society quarterly meeting on Sunday 21 August 2016.

The presentation is a must attend event for all renovators in Brisbane. Come along to the revamped Windsor Historical Society Chambers to hear Richard speak about changes in the timber joinery industry over the last 50 years. His address will include a discussion of traditional machinery compared with modern machine technology and the increase in skill level of apprentices and tradesmen in the industry.

Richard will also talk about design and architectural changes in the timber industry that reflect evolution in modern design, regulations, environmental protection and insurance requirements (e.g. low energy glass, safety glass, timber section sizes and wind loading).

Allkind - Timber Joinery Presentation at Windsor Historical Society - Chambers on Lutwyche Road

The Windsor Historical Society protect the heritage and share the history of the inner-north of Brisbane suburbs of Windsor, Wilston, Grange and neighbouring suburbs.

The Society is housed in the historic Windsor Council Chambers –  a unique heritage-listed stone local government building (Windsor Shire / Town Chambers), built in 1897 out of Brisbane tuff that was mined on site. Adjoining the Chambers are the Windsor War Memorial and Windsor Town Quarry Parks.

The Windsor Historical Society maintains a large photographic display of the history of the area, early settlers and historic homes and schools. A large collection of family and other local resource files have been established including selected post office directories, electoral rolls and over eighty real estate maps spanning 1870 onward.

About Richard

Richard accepts an Award commemorating Allkind's 20 years of membership with Brisbane North Chamber of Commerce

Richard Travers commenced his employment with ALLKIND Joinery in 1981 as an apprentice cabinet maker. After obtaining his Trade Certificate, Richard gained valuable experience working throughout both the company’s Cabinetry and Joinery workshops.

Richard is now a Director of ALLKIND and is responsible for overseeing sales, marketing, estimating and administration. He is also involved in several leading industry bodies, including Brisbane North Chamber of Commerce and WADIC (Windows and Doors Industry Council).
